Hello folks, I shut my office down on March 13th out of concern for the spread of COVID-19. In the past 4 months, there has been little progress in testing, tracing, or treatments. Because of this disease, I’ve lost a peer from high school, my colleagues have lost parents, and I’ve known several friends who are in recovery from the virus — and there are hundreds of thousands of other stories like this, we are a nation in mourning.
This virus is confirmed as respiratory, so being indoors in close proximity for more than a few minutes is a potentially dangerous activity. It is strange to me that shiatsu is categorized this way, but life is complicated sometimes! I know it is not forever. Humans have lived through pandemics in the past, and while I was hoping that the government might take its role seriously in following the science and protecting the citizens, I don’t need their permission to do it for myself. I am listening to healthcare workers and epidemiologists, reading historians and sociologists. I’m wearing a mask. I’m staying home. I’m keeping myself, my family, my clients, my neighbors, my town safe.
I hope you all remain safe and healthy! Touch therapy and trauma recovery will be needed even more so on the other side of this and I want to be there to help. When effective treatments and a vaccine are available, I will be so excited to re-open and serve you once again.
